Web Service Large Payload Size

anonymous 11 years ago in Studio / Services updated by anonymous 11 years ago 0
I tried creating a web service to pull JSON data from http://pubapi.cryptsy.com/api.php?method=marketdat...

I set-up and configured a source and I was able to view the results in the browser.

Yet when I tried to create a web service with the source to define the input and output mapping the request took more then two minutes to execute. I cancelled it after this point.

I then tried using the copy and paste result feature to configure the service using the browser output from hitting the service. It pasted fine, yet once again after a few minutes of waiting I cancelled the service creation. It had not finished!

It would be great if large JSON payloads would parse quickly.

It appears to be an issue with path extraction from the payload. The service executed fine. Yet when we tried to extract paths from the JSON data to map into Warewolf the server took very long to process.

We are busy putting a fix so you can use JSONPath ( like XPath for JSON ) to pre-process your data payload. This means the path generation will require fewer operations on a data set like your.

Hey Guys, I have been doing some testing today and I just wanted to let you guys know that the latest build is a lot more stable then the previous builds, even on my Windows 8 machine. Well done on the good work, definitely a lot easier to use now!

Refactor option

GianPiero 12 years ago in Studio / Designer updated by Gandalf 11 years ago 0

Hey guys, would it be possible to add a Refactor option, so that should a Proc change and be deployed to live server, that we could easily update the various usages of that proc on all the workflows in which it is used?  I realise that some workflows may need to be changed when a proc changes, but it could be that the revised proc just returns an additional field which is only used by one workflow, which means that it wouldn't effect the rest of the workflows, as this additional field would be ignored within all the other workflows using the proc?

Answer
Gandalf 11 years ago

As it stands, changing the underlying proc will only affect services that change accordingly. If you add a field to the proc, you only need to change the instance that needs that change, the others will simply ignore it by default. However, they will all show in a warning state so that you know which ones are not completely up to date. If this is not what you mean, please let us know.

Dragable Decision Flow windows

GianPiero 12 years ago in Studio / Explorer updated by Gandalf 10 years ago 2

Hi Guys, would it be possible to add in dragable modal windows, e.g. the Decision Flow Window, as it currently sits above my workflow, which means I can't see the logic that the decision flow would effect.  Thanks guys.

We do need to keep it modal, but being able to move it makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

Support for SFTP

GianPiero 12 years ago in Studio / Toolbox updated by Gandalf 11 years ago 0

Hi Guys, would it be possible to add support for SFTP based file transfers. I see that the write file tool has the ability to write to FTP & FTPS (which is great) but we use SFTP pretty much all over our system, could this be added as a new Toolbox item? Or could the existing Write File tool, be modified to incorporate this?

Text Delimiter Support for Reading CSV

GianPiero 12 years ago in Studio / Toolbox updated by Gandalf 11 years ago 0

Hi guys, would it be possible to introduce text delimeted support for reading CSVs?

For example, let's say I have the following CSV:

'Big,Branch','1','false'

'Small Branch','2','true'

'Smallest Branch','1','false'

The CSV is comma separated and text delimited. When I split it however using WareWolf, the Big and Branch in the first line are being split because there is a comma between the 2 words.  If I could specify a text delimiter then this wouldn't be a problem.

This is a common occurrence for us, as Excel tends to use Text Delimiters when saving Excel files to CSV. Could this be added for us?

This is a great usage scenario.

You can achieve this quite simply:

As each header/field etc from the file has its own row to describe how it is split and the characters to split on can be verbose you can do this

and then repeat the pattern as you see fit.

Also, the large view for the tool (which should be out soon!) has the ability to specify an escape character if you need it.

Resize

Alex Hampel 12 years ago in Studio / Designer updated by Gandalf 12 years ago 0

I am battling to find the risize marker to make this assign box bigger. It would be nice if this could be made more obvious or if we could resize from any of the 4 corners.

Can I return json from a service call?

Chas Digal 12 years ago in Server / Execution updated by Gandalf 12 years ago 1

Most API's these days allow a variety of return types. What types can I offer without having to build it into everything I do and still have it as XML

service execution
Answer
Gandalf 12 years ago

You can return XML or JSON. By default the system will return XML from any service call. The caller can define the response type as json by placing a .json after the name of the service they are calling. eg
